Located in a prime position on Oxford Street, the flagship Boots UK store is undergoing a major, multi-phase redevelopment that extends well beyond the sales floors.

This ambitious 14-month programme will deliver upgrades across all six levels of the iconic glass-and-steel building, including enhancements to the beauty hall, a full Boots Opticians refit, the introduction of Boots Hearingcare, and significant improvements to back-of-house and corporate office spaces.

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟏: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭.

Delivered over 16 weeks, this phase focused on transforming the beauty hall, featuring:
• A new black mineral-fibre ceiling with integrated LED track and spot lighting
• A new AC system supplied from rooftop plant four floors above (with condenser replacement scheduled for a later phase, requiring an Oxford Street road closure and crane lift)
• New electrical infrastructure, including access control and CCTV
• New structural steel walls and window beds
• Updated sales floor fixtures, fittings, and customer journey signage
• A range of bespoke wall treatments, including a striking feature wall adjacent to the escalators, blending Boots-specific imagery with iconic London landmarks such as the Gherkin and the London Eye, spanning an impressive three floors
• A new digital media suite, comprising a large-format front entrance screen, an impressive 3.5m transparency screen (positioned between the main entrance doors), set at 73% transparency – delivering high-impact digital content without compromising visibility into the store. Additional motion-responsive activation screens further enhance customer engagement.

Delivering a project of this scale within a fully trading store on one of London’s busiest streets presents significant challenges — from noise management for nearby residents to complex logistics around deliveries and waste removal.

Through detailed planning and strong collaboration between W G Silverton & Co Limited and the Boots UK teams, site personnel, neighbouring businesses, and local residents, the project continues to progress smoothly.

Store Manager Bani Choudhury offered welcomed positive feedback, saying:

“𝐀 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭.

With the visually striking ground-floor beauty hall and first-floor opticians now complete, we’re off to a confident start as the next phase gets underway in the new year.
