Introducing our key team members

Paul Sharp

Senior Contract Manager (Shopfitting/Fit-out)

Paul gained his City and Guilds qualification in carpentry and joinery and spent half of his 40-year construction career on site perfecting his trade. His varied experience in commercial construction, high-end residential fit-out, retail and leisure fit-out saw him work in the UK and internationally.

Rising through the ranks of Site Manager and Contract Manager, Paul obtained his CIOB and joined the WGS team as a Senior Contract Manager in 2023.

Loves: Travel and cooking

Sue Roworth

HR Manager

Sue started her career within the hospitality industry. She completed a fast-track management training programme to become Hotel General Manager, holding this position within three hotels before changing her career path to specialise in human resources.

Having been in HR management for over 14 years, Sue joined the WGS team as HR Manager and a member of the senior team in 2021.

Loves: Her grandchildren, walking, and speed (she doesn’t want to go to the moon but would love to have flown on Concorde!)

Allan Wilkes

Associate Director (Electrical)

A member of our senior management team, Allan heads up the electrical division of our business.

Having 40 years' experience in the electrical sector, Allan started his journey as an electrical apprentice, spending the first half of his career on-site gaining a list of qualifications including City & Guilds Electrical Installation & Testing 2436 Pt 1 and Pt 2 | CITB AM1 and AM2 Electrical Installations | 2396 Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Systems | 2391 Testing and Inspection.

After running his own electrical empire and gaining a wealth of knowledge, he joined the WGS team and now shares his expertise.

Loves: His passion outside of work is going to see premier league side Tottenham Hotspur - no further comments to be made!

Kevin Cripps

Design & Programme Manager

Kevin's career began after he completed his HND in Architectural Design and Technology and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology.

Heading up our Architectural Services team, Kevin has more than 20 years’ post-study experience as a Technical Designer, Architectural Technologist and Programme Manager. He is well-versed in the RIBA stages of work, AutoCAD, and Microstation, as well as an in-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and full planning processes.

Loves: Outdoor activities with his sons, a good family BBQ and running the London Marathon – phew!

Paul Webb

Managing Director

Paul inherited the company from his father, and before that grandfather and founder Mr W G Silverton. As a young man, Paul worked in the business learning the basics, and dabbling his spare earnings in the stock market before spreading his wings and entering a career of photography, owning his own studio.

With a desire to return to the family business, Paul re-joined his father, and with a natural flair for numbers, soon took over the running of the finance sector, heading up the division before his father’s retirement. He now holds the position of Managing Director.

Loves: Formula 1 and gardening.

Karen King

Marketing, Proposals and Business Manager

Karen has over 25 years of construction experience - learning the ropes as a Project Coordinator in her early career, before stepping up to Contract Manager and working on-site for over a decade. Moving away from live projects, she spent a further 10 years specialising in pre-construction, and later communications and marketing.

Joining us in 2023, Karen is the newest member of our senior management team.

Loves: Family time, scenic walks, and baking cupcakes!

Graham Webb

SHEQ Manager

Graham joined the business at the start of 2026 as our SHEQ lead, providing health, safety, environmental and quality support across both small works and major projects.

He began his career in the early 1980s in a drawing office and progressed to Contract Manager roles, primarily based in London and working across a range of sectors. With a long-standing passion for health and safety, Graham achieved IOSH Chartered status ten years ago and brings extensive industry experience to the team.

Loves: Motorsport, rugby union (England Lions and Harlequins), football, music and cars.

Howard King

Associate Director (Shopfitting/Fit-Out)

Part of our senior management team, Howard heads up our shopfitting and building services division.

Starting his career on a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship, Howard gained his City & Guilds qualification as well as acceptance into the Institute of Carpenters. He worked on major construction and housing sites before moving into the retail sector.

Howard has spent the last 20 years in senior management, utilising his expertise, and gaining his CIOB in the process.

Loves: Sport in general, anything that involves a ball, bat, track or pitch!

Phil Exley

Senior Contract Manager (Shopfitting/Fit-out)

Phil started his construction career as an Assistant Site Manager in the social housing sector over 25 years ago. He progressed through the ranks to Divisional Manager, working for principal contractors undertaking mainly refurbishment projects across healthcare, hospitality, education and social housing sectors.

Phil has joined the WGS management team with a strong focus on service levels and client satisfaction - delivering schemes on time, within budget and to the highest standards possible.

Loves: Phil enjoys sports (in any guise) and spending time socialising in his garden.

Ben Downham

Senior Contract Manager (Shopfitting/Fit-out)

Ben started his working career as a general operative, joining WGS originally in 2002. Working within the shopfitting department, he gained his qualifications in carpentry and with his SMSTS, progressed to Site Foreman. He later studied for his NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contracting Operations Management and NEBOSH - construction.

Spreading his wings outside of WGS for a number of years, he continued his carpentry career - running fit-outs, refurbishments and building maintenance projects.

Ben re-joined WGS as a Senior Contract Manager, offering a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Loves: Sports (especially football), a decent film or box set, and being set upon by his 3 daughters!

Colin Kinsella

Senior Contract Manager (Electrical)

Colin joined the WGS Electrical team in 2019. His 30-year commitment to his former company saw him start as an electrical apprentice, working mainly on retail projects and eventually rising to the position of Electrical Director.

Loves: Following Aston Villa, playing snooker, and playing the drums (not all at the same time!)

Senior Management Team

Our senior management team is led by our owner Paul Webb, alongside associate directors Allan Wilkes and Howard King. Completing the line-up is HR manager Sue Roworth and Marketing, Proposals & Business Manager Karen King.
